Country Coastal Junior Soccer Association was established in 2002 and is the supervising body of Junior Soccer in the Bunbury and surrounding areas. Clubs from Balingup in the South to Harvey in the North and out to Collie in the East all compete in a home and away competition. 2009 saw the implementation of Small Sided Football and players from 5 years to 10 years play in this new format designed to increase player participation, touches on the ball as well as more decision making opportunities. As with any new initiatives initial change was difficult in some areas, however as we head towards the end of Season 2009 reports seem to be positive with the players enjoying the faster and more active game. The transition period of 2009 also saw the retention of the Rooball game for the Under 10's age group where they continued to enjoy and explore the many facets of the big game, on smaller pitches, testing skills and tactics in some hard fought battles. The older FIFA age groups continue with their development, making their way into the bigger arena with full size pitches and rules of competition. The CCJSA, in conjunction with Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior Soccer Assoc and Football West, were instrumental in the appointment of a full time Regional Development Officer during 2008 which has seen many positive areas of development being implemented. 2009 saw the increase in Club Development Sessions with our RDO introducing new and the more experienced players and coaches to drills and sessions, increasing participation, fun and developing skills. South West Regional Academies in both CCJSA & LNJSA camps also headed our development programs for 2009 with 200 players being given the opportunity to participate in the Bunbury & Busselton Training Centres throughout the year. As we come to the close of our season for 2009 we are busy planning our programs and formats for 2010 and at this stage our football future is looking brighter at each turn. I would personally like to thank the Clubs, their tireless volunteers and the many players and football families who participate each week for their efforts and look forward to seeing you all pitch side in the year to come.
